Taylor never knew his real father. He was only a little toddler when his father died in a fire. His mother became depressed after his death and would leave Taylor home alone at days at a time. Their neighbors, the Albergetsi's, took care of the young dark haired child until his mother finally returned pregnant. Taylor was two years old when his sister, Melanie, was born. But the father was never known. Taylor's mother seemed to be a different woman when Melanie was born, as if she was reborn herself and raised her two children with love for the next thirteen years. He now only lives with his mother and 13 year old sister.

Taylor was very young when he lost his father and every night wishes he had one. His second father, he never knew, had left his mother when Melanie was born. The small family of three took care and got along very nicely. Taylor grew up loving his new little sister. The two became great friends as well as siblings. At the age of 13 he started to teach Melanie some tips in training. They did for 3 years and soon Melanie was giving Taylor the tips in training. Taylor adores his younger sister and he tries his hardest to not let anything happen to her. She is the only person Taylor truly knew. The only thing he cannot stop was her being reaped for the Hunger Games. This weakness bothered him. He has no control over it, therefore he trains with her everyday to ensure she will be ready.
