Sterling was born to Sarah and Stanly. He is six years older than his sister. Sterling was twelve years old when he first started working in the orchards. His father took him up in the trees and taught him how to climb and pick the best fruit. As they where up there they spotted a trackerjacker nest. They where buzzing and the noise was making them upset. Stanly pushed his son out of the tree. He landed on his hands and knees breaking his wrist. But he was safe. mean while his father was being attacked. Someone grabbed him and made him run with the others. several people got stung including himself but no one but his father died.
For a long time Sterling blamed himself and promised to bring home any food possible. Once in a while he was able to sneak a few pieced of fruit in his hoodie pocket. He also sold his carvings to the richer people who could afford them to bring home any money.
When he was sixteen he found a small german Shepherd puppy with a broken leg. He took him home and his mom took care of him until he was better. It was also around this time that he finally saved enough money up to by two things an apple tree and a goat. They planet the apple tree in their front yard and caged the goat in the back yard.
