WHAT'S YOUR PAST ?
family background ! Lives with her mother, father, and younger brother, Rusko, who is only 3 years old. Her mother, father, along with herself, work in a nearby factory. Her mother and father are both high ranking workers, dealing with organization of lower workers, filing, and making sure quotas are met. Nala works as their secretary, and sometimes doing odd jobs around the factory, such as screwing in a bolt here, removing and taking an apart an engine here, and cleaning newly made cars and trains.
housing type ! Middle class, at the cusp of Middle and Upper class.
basic possessions ! Large amount of books, has her own small garden, and an array of trinkets found within the factory.
pets ! Nala's father is allergic to all furry animals, but Nala managed to get a small snake, that she loves dearly and has called Snow, as a kind of inside joke and its Nala's way of mocking the President without any danger.
history ! Nala was born on a windy December morning. The birth went without much complication and she was bought home the next day where she was called by friends of her parents 'quiet' and 'really peaceful' compared to their newborns. Nala's early childhood was uneventful. She and her mother bonded closely and Nala would always help her mother out in the backyard with the garden, which she would eventually go on to make her own little garden in the back. Nala and her father were also close as well, Nala's fascination with technology began when she was young watching the men and women at the nearby factory piecing together behemoth transportation machines.
Nala had few friends throughout her early years, but in the third year of primary school, Nala made a close friend. She was called Jill, Jill Valencia. Nala and Jill quickly became best friends. Both girls were of the same wealth status, so money issues never came between them and their parents got along well. Nala and Jill would explore the cracks of crevices of District 6, sometimes traveling out into the back areas of the District and digging through the dirt for plants they had never seen before, and then snacking on the ones they found to be tasty. The friendship lasted for sometime. Nala and Jill shared things with each other they had never told other people and gossiped about boys and the other girls in their class. They were the two best friends in all of Panem, until the Reaping swept across District 6. The two girls were standing in the back of the massive District square, standing on their tippy toes, hands clasped, straining to hear who would be called. "Jillian Valencia". Nala would never forget that moment. The next moment, Peacekeepers were ripping Jill from her. Later, when Nala went to visit Jill, Jill had gifted her the gear necklace she wears everyday as a reminder of what hangs over her and every other citizen of Panem's head everyday. Needless to say, Jill never returned.
The loss of her friend Jill was one of the biggest events within Nala's otherwise average life.
