Her mother claimed she had nothing to do with her father rebebling, and was allowed to stay in District 12 with May and her older brother and sister. May's older sister was reaped when she was 17(may was 8), and she died on the seventh day in the final battle.

history ! When may was 7 years old, her father tried to rebel. He got 10 people to stand with him, all were shot down on the spot except for her father. Who was sent to the capitol and turned into an avox. Her mother claimed no rights to her father, and she was allowed to stay. A year after her father vanished from her life, May's sister Allie was reaped. She lasted until the last day. Everyone thought she was going to win. Until the final battle, when Allie was killed, and her opponent won the games. Since then, May has prayed that her brother would not get reaped, and she has trained everyday in her room, and in the woods off of District 12, so that, when the next hunger games came, she could volunteer if she was not reaped, and win. For her sister.
