DISTRICT 1 REAPINGS
Jill Axelus pursed her lips and gently pat down the massive sized hat that overwhelmed her thin face. Letting her shoulders roll back naturally, the District 1 Escort waltzed her way onto the stage. She did not wear her signature sun glasses this reaping. She felt that she needed to be a bit more formal. Younger, newer escorts were making their way up the districts and Jill wanted to keep her spot after seven years by giving the people something to chew on. Change was everything.
The edges of her mouth curled up into a bright smile as she neared the microphone. Clasping her hands together in a very excited manner, Jill spoke in a clear and deep tone. “Welcome and Happy Hunger Games. Isn't it wonderful to be here on this marvelous day?” Some cheers reached her ears as her eyes glided across the faces of District 1. “I suggest we start right off, since we are all so eager!”
Jill swiftly made her way over to a glass bowl that was filled to the rim. Turning her head to face her audience, she took her time to search for the slip to touch her hand. It brushed her pasty hands and she picked it up, walking bristly back to the microphone stand. Right before reading the names she announced, “And now to find out the young man and woman who will be representing District 1 in this years Annual Hunger Games. May the odds be ever in your favor.”
The small rectangular paper folded open in her hands. She spoke the name loud and clear.
“Lily Watson.”
She looked amongst the people to spot the owner of the name she had announced. With a slight nod of her head she went to search for a slip in the other glass bowl. Holding the slip close to her chest she cleared her throat as she read the next name.
“Lucas Davies.”
