DISTRICT 2 REAPINGS Case Tucci adjusted his tie slightly and smiled out at the hundreds of District 2 citizens gathered before him. He could hardly believe his marvelous luck! After 3 years of acting as an escort to... less than admirable Districts, he finally was an escort to one of the much talked about Career districts. This year certainly was off to a good start.
He noticed the factories in the distance and the cloudy sky, as well as the buzz of anticipation in the air. Boy, was this his district or what? He studied the crowd of children as the anthem played, which two vicious tributes will be reaped this year? Case was excited to find out. The anthem ended and now was his moment. Case stepped up to the microphone as he patted down his slicked back bubble gum pink hair, pink was the new purple this year after all. The crowd hushed.
“Hello, welcome all and Happy Hunger Games.” He spoke with a steady voice, clipped by his ever present Capitol accent. “This year we are so very thrilled to chose an extremely lucky man and woman to become participants in this years Annual Hunger Games.” Cheers erupted from the masses. Case smiled effervescently back. “Yes! That's the very spirit!” He then noticed a choice few faces in the crowd who stared straight back at him with angry ferocity, a spontaneous chill went down Case's spine as he looked back at them.
“Ahem, yes settle down,” He picked up, snapping out of his odd trance, as the crowds grew to a roar, “We need to find out who the lucky ones are, don't we?” A real hush fell over the crowds this time, and a new emotion peaked the air. Case glanced around and spoke, “Men first, shall we?” He walked over to the large glass bowl that held hundreds and hundreds of slips of paper, he peered down as he stuck his hand in. He grabbed the first slip his hand grazed, pulled it out and strode back to the microphone with ease. He unrolled the slip of paper, read the name silently to himself, and smiled.
This was his favorite part, calling out the names.
“Shane Albergetsi.” He called out loudly and clearly.
The crowd stirred, some hoots and some sighs were heard throughout. Case beamed with satisfaction as the masses parted for a tall dark haired boy. Not one to waste time, Case flew to the next glass bowl. He swirled his hand around the hundred pieces of paper until he snatched one up. He hurried back to microphone, “Ladies next, heh?” What a wonderful year! Quietness took over again as Case read the name on this slip of paper, once again to himself. He inhaled with verve and spoke with power,
“Sara James.”

Sara's eyes looked around as she heard her name. She knew that she had lost her brother to a reaping and then died in a hunger games. But she was more trained...She thought.
Hearing her name again, Sara gave in and walked towards the stage where the man was. Sara was 5'3 and weighed approximately 130 pounds. She heard Carta say something and she thought he was going to volunteer for her. She glared at him as she hoped he would stop his persuit on talking and volunteering himself for the games instead of her.
She had grown to love Carta over the years as they had both been in career training together in the academy, plus their families were from low upper class families in District 2. Getting up to the stage she walked up the 4 stairs and as her feet touched the metal flooring she looked at Case.
Closing her eyes breifly she walked towards him and stood on the other side as she saw Shane a guy she had know also a Career. They should probably stay together in the games and probably make sure that they had some way to relocate each other once they went off into the arena's.
She was then brought into a room where she waited as she sat down. She had no clue what to expect next. only that she would have some time to say goodbye to family and friends. That it might be the last time to see her family. No, she couldn't think like that.

I walk with confidence away from my mother. She has tears in her eyes as I go into the proper section of the square. I look back at my mother. She has no idea how much I need to get reaped this time. No matter what she says I must get reaped this year or next. After my sister's death, I've changed in a way. I've become more cautious, less open, and darker in a way. This only gives me the proper drive I need for the games.
Turning my head back to the large raised stage ahead, my eyebrows furrow in concentration. The man with the pink hair walks up onto the District 2 stage. When a majority of the crowd cheers at his excitement with their own, I stay silent. All want to know is if I am reaped or not. That is all. He begins to speak and I tune him out and look over the heads and faces beside, behind, and in front of me. What are the odds of me getting reaped. No one in District 2 takes tesserea. My name is only in there eleven times. I can't stand living here without living up to my sister's dream.
The man, Case, finally draws the boys first. My eyes narrow as he announces the name. Shane Albergetsi. My heart stops. Either from terror or ecstatic feelings, I am not sure. Some sighs and cheers are heard and I instantly look at my mother. I can tell she is freaking out inside. I have to ignore it. She'll be fine without me. I walk to the center and up the stage. I stare right at Case Tucci a moment before he calls the girl's name. Sara James.
My eyes instantly go to a boy. He looks terrified and in sorrow at the name, but obvisously is trying to hide it. Must be related to her in some way. A slight smirk crosses my face at the name. A fellow career is better than someone not willing to cooperate. I watch as she makes her way to the stage. I turn my head to face her and we shake hands. Case takes us away from the crowd of 2 and into the Hall of Justice where we wait for our first visitor.
