DISTRICT 12 REAPINGS
Valerire Trent was disgusted by the fact that an escort of her reputation and delicacy had been sent to escort the poorest District in all Panam. Think happy thoughts. She told herself. Maybe they thought by sending their most experienced escort to 12, they could see 12 actually standing a chance of winning. That, yes, had to be it! After all, her very own tributes had won every Hunger Games in the last three years in a row. She reapplied her favorite lipstick before she climbed onto their makeshift stage. She smacked her lips. Victor Blood. That was the shade she adored.[/size]
She knew all the tricks, tips, and advice. Enough to make any other escort weep. Well, by any means. Yes! Valerie was up to her new challenge: Make a District 12 Tribute the one to beat. Unheard of, yes.
But with her help...possible.
“Welcome all!” She spoke firmly and intensely into the microphone., after the Capitol Anthem ended loudly. It was not hard to gain this crowds attention, it was deadly quiet. Almost awkwardly so. They didn't seem excited at all. Valerie plowed forward, regardless, with verve.
“Today, a very honored young woman and young man will be chosen to compete in this years Annual Hunger Games!” She gave an enthusiastic smile, silence answered her. “Hmm, yes! So very very exciting! Now to discover who will be the lucky ones to travel to the Capitol!” She ended with her high Capitol accent, crossed gracefully over to each gigantic glass bowl, swirled the thousands of papers around until resting on one slip of paper from each. She strode back to the microphone and took a moment to look out over the heads of the hundreds upon hundreds of citizens. This just might be it. The moment when a Victor is unknowingly discovered.
"May the odds be ever in your favor. "She said seriously. The air grew stiff and cold with anticipation. Valerie became giddy and unrolled the first slip, then spoke carefully with a large confident smile,
“May Collins.”
Her smile grew ever bigger as she clapped for the newly crowned tribute. Silence once again blanketed the endless crowd, excepting a few claps here and there. She quickly unrolled the second slip (time to pick things up!) and spoke again carefully into the microphone,
“Echo Stone.”
